Edge Banding Woodworking Milling Cutter

Edge banding cutter is a kind of woodworking milling cutter. It is used for edge treatment of kinds of panel furniture, that is, in the edge banding process, it can make the furniture beautiful, protect the base material from environmental humidity, temperature and external force, and improve the service life of the furniture. The edge banding knife is divided into two categories: integral type (i.e. welding type) and indexable type. The processing objects are mainly plastic, paper, wood and composite edge banding belts.

The indexable edge sealing knife adopts assembly structure. The blade is made into regular polygon and directly installed on the knife body with screws. The blade body is made of aluminum alloy, and the blade is made of hard alloy or coated blade. Each edge of the blade can be used interchangeably. After the edge is blunt, the new blade can be replaced at any time for continuous use, thus saving the time of grinding and tooth replacement and improving the production efficiency. In addition, because the blades can be replaced, the disadvantages of the welding edge banding cutter are avoided, and the service life of the cutter body is increased. Generally, users only need to purchase one basic cutter body and several shaped blades to meet the production needs.

Functions of each part of the edge banding machine:

1. Pre milling: it is composed of two milling tools at the front and back, mainly for milling the plates with irregular edges.

2. Gluing and tape feeding: it is mainly to apply the melted glue to the side of the work-piece, and then stick it with the sent side tape.

3. Pressing: press the bonded edge banding tape on the plate to make the plate and the edge banding much firmer.

4. Front and rear cutting: trim the protruding edge band at the front end of the plate and the protruding edge band at the rear end of the plate to be flush with the plate.

5. Rough trimming: its function is to partially mill the side bands of the upper and lower side protruding parts of the plate, and its purpose is to reduce the burden of the finishing cutter.

6. Finishing: reshape the upper and lower edge strips of the plate and mill them into R-shaped edges.

7. Tracking: it is to mill the 4 edges and corners of the edge belt adhered with the plate into R-arc shape to increase the beauty of the edges and corners of the plate.

8. Scraper: scrape the rotating wave knife marks left on the trimmed edge banding belt on both sides of the plate. The R size of the knife edge is the same as that of the finishing machine.

9. Blade: remove the residual glue extruded from the upper and lower plane joints of the edge banding tape adhered to the plate.

10. Polishing: conduct photometric treatment on both sides of the trimmed edge banding belt. Polishing is completed by two cloth wheels in rotation.

11. Conveying unit: move the plate to each processing unit through the conveying chain for processing.
